Taryn Olson is the Student Affairs Manager at Presidio. Originally from San Diego, Taryn ventured to Northern California to study at UC Berkeley where she received her BA in International Development Studies with a minor in Spanish Literature and Language.
Upon graduating, Taryn completed an intensive training in grassroots organizing at Midwest Academy. She then decided to put her knowledge and passion for social justice to practice by working on numerous campaigns throughout the Bay Area. She managed communications and coordinated community outreach on campaigns on issues ranging from immigrants’ rights to education. While interning for Food and Water Watch, she helped coordinate a national food safety campaign. She also worked as a consultant for Social Entrepreneur Corps where she trained indigenous women to be both social entrepreneurs and community leaders in rural regions of Guatemala.
Taryn’s strong organizational skills, passion for social justice and positive attitude have made her a valuable asset to the Presidio Graduate School community. When asked what drew her to the school, she responded, “With my experience in and enthusiasm for social entrepreneurship and environmental protection, Presidio was the perfect fit. I love the inspirational energy and progressive thinking the Presidio community embodies.”
Taryn is a dedicated lacrosse player, having played Division 1 at UC Berkeley. She also enjoys biking and escaping to Tahoe on weekends to snowboard.
